I have previously written two other bibliographical articles (accessible on ) that cover Jewish burial customs as they relate to the Shroud: “The Turin Shroud in Light of First-Century CE Jewish Burial Practices According to Jewish Sources – a Bibliography” and “The Turin Shroud in Light of First-Century CE Jewish Burial Practices According to Jewish Sources – a Bibliography.” Since the burial customs aspect is inextricably intertwined with the exegesis of the gospel texts, there will be some overlap between those articles and this article. In recent years, some researchers have come to believe that even the Pauline letters may have references to the Shroud, the most notable one being Galatians 3:1, in which Paul says, “You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.” These researchers argue that the word “portrayed” (per the original Greek) fits very well with the possibility of having seen the cloth known today as the Shroud of Turin. However, Luke, when describing what Peter found in the tomb, does not use his original term, sindon, but rather, othonia (24:12). John also mentions, to the exclusion of the other three gospels, a napkin or face cloth (20:7). Matthew (27:59-60), Mark (15:46) and Luke (23:53) use the Greek word sindon, normally interpreted as “shroud,” when describing what Joseph of Arimathea provided for Jesus, whereas John uses the Greek word othonia, usually interpreted as a plural term for burial cloths. All four gospels mention Jesus’ burial cloths. Any discussion about the authenticity of the Shroud encompasses detailed analysis of the Gospel texts. These situations would usually end up with her as the victor and everyone (including me) will be laughing at the end. get into crazy situations such as preventing schoolmates and teachers from finding out about her true identity, having a vampire hunter as an admirer, keeping her grandma from sucking out her crush’s blood and whatnot. Basically, the fact that Karin’s not a normal vampire, is what the plot revolves on. She doesn’t suck blood as often as other vampires do, since she actually makes blood, she bathes in daylight with no problem whatsoever – The bottom line is that she can do what other vampires can’t. She’s probably what you would refer to as an anti-vampire. Speaking of the plot… So it’s about Karin, a freak among vampires. However, after episode 5 things got better and the plot became more definite. To be honest I expected a lot from it and unfortunately the first 5 episodes didn’t really grab me. And to make matters even more complicated, Karin feels her blood reacting unusually to Kenta's presence. That is, until Karin's newly transferred classmate, Kenta Usui, finds her behavior suspicious. With her siblings-Anju, her reserved yet affectionate younger sister, and Ren, her womanizing elder brother-helping her abilities remain a secret by altering the affected humans' memories, no one is the wiser. Her only solution? Force her excess blood onto random strangers, which surprisingly causes these "victims" to become livelier and happier than before. And the more blood she produces, the more anemic and lightheaded she gets, ultimately leading to frequent nosebleeds. Unlike her vampire family, ever since she was a child, Karin has suffered from polycythemia: a rare disorder which causes her to periodically produce excessive amounts of blood. However, high schooler Karin Maaka is unusual, even among her own kind. Vampires-supernatural beings that feed on the life essence of the unsuspecting at night-have been around for centuries.
The idea of being confined to only witnessing games through a television keeps them in the stands. Instead, it is the thought of being banned from the venue that hosts their beloved team. If the fans’ chatter is to be believed, it isn’t the threat of fines or jail time that holds them back. But the most interesting is why all those streaker-dreams resist claiming their moment of fame. Social media is full of people claiming they’d love to pull the stunt, yet the occurrences are rare. The penalties for running across an MLB field appear to be pretty effective. Are The Penalties For Running On An MLB Field Effective? So, they made coming onto the field uninvited trespassing, even after the game was finished. Consequently, city administrators started to fear high repair bills that resulted from the damage fans caused when they took to the field. As stadiums became built with taxpayer dollars, the cost of upkeep and policing them also fell onto the taxpayer. Instead, the reason for the ban is money. Eventually, a human chain was formed, and Chambliss was led back to the field through the cheering mob, so he could officially touch the plate. The crowd was too thick and kept knocking him down in their euphoria. Nor did they do it because it causes interference, even though it had.įor example, there is a joke that Chris Chambliss is still trying to touch home plate after making the 1976 homerun that clinched the Pennant for the Yankees. Yet, the ban didn’t come out of concern for players’ safety, although, in retrospect, many defend it as such. Until then, it was a tradition for fans to flood the field after the home team won the Pennant or the World Series. Thus, the penalties for doing so are much like running across the field during a game. On October 21, 1980, baseball fans became banned from rushing the field. Why MBL Fans Can No Longer Rush The Field He didn’t even share what was whispered in his ear, stating, “ I’m going to keep that to myself.” Instead, the justification for the law was concern that fans could become “unruly” and hurt a player. To be clear, Sprewell wasn’t hurt nor pressed for a new law. Instead, the event that kicked things off occurred during a Knicks game when the fashion designer strolled onto the NBA court and whispered something to Latrell Sprewell. The inspiration for the law had nothing to do with the MBL, although they were supporters of the bill. It carries the potential fines of up to 25,000 dollars and twelve months in jail. Mayor Bloomberg signed the law in October 2003, which makes it trespassing for fans to come onto courts or playing fields during any major sporting event. The New York City Calvin Klien Law is one of the best examples of how penalties vary. Thus, the field can be classified as city property, making the offender liable for other fines and consequences. But just because a person’s tax dollars went into a project doesn’t mean the taxpayer has carte blanche access. However, if the fan is charged with aggravated trespass, it is a felony, with prison time ranging from 16 months to three years.Īdding to the issue is that many stadiums are paid for in part by local taxpayers. It may even carry up to six months in jail. Depending on various factors, including where it happened, the fine will range from 75-1,000 dollars. But trespassing comes in various forms, and state and city laws are not universal, and Canada, of course, has their own rules.Ī typical fan running across the field with no malicious intent will usually fall into the misdemeanor category of trespassing. One of the reasons is that the offense is typically classified as trespassing. Why? Why The Penalty For Running On An MLB Field VariesĪside from the venue ban, the penalty for running on an MLB isn’t universal. But these days, even the tradition of rushing the field has ended. A Leicester City fan came onto the field, attacking Nottingham Forest players. But what if it happened every inning? Would fans enjoy it then? Then there is the shocking event of February 6, 2022, at a professional soccer match. In addition, depending on the US state where the event occurred, the fan could be charged with criminal trespass, spend a night in jail, fined, and possibly have to go to court with the possibility of going to prison.Īt first glance, the penalties for running across a pro sports field seem over-the-top. The penalty for running on an MLB field is a lifetime ban from the venue. Many dreams of running across a professional sports field, but few do it, and almost everyone gets caught. Instead, he was a fan who ran across the field and then used Tal’s Hill (RIP) to make his great escape. On May 13, 2011, a man became a legend at Minute Maid Park. Editorial credit: Eric Broder Van Dyke / From what I remember, the translation was exceedingly bad in that route I played through it entirely without the Restoration Patch, and immediately went back and played it with the Patch, but remember it only being a small improvement. The best recommendation I can give if you get it on Steam is to not do the Ageha route first. Some of the dialogue is also super sappy, especially by the final arc/end. That being said, the first 5-7 hours are incredibly slow. It was the first long VN like that I had ever played, and I was completely surprised since its incredibly cheap ($15 normal price, I believe I got it for like $8 on sale,) and considering the majority of the other VN options on steam for that price, its quite the steal IMO. Finishing all the routes took me 43 hours, and the first full playthrough from the common route into the Ageha route took me around 23 hours. If My Heart Had Wings is probably the best VN outside of the small amount of Key that I have played (Clannad and TA, so far). It was visually beautiful, but that’s all that really stood out to me. It was alright, but I don’t think I’d read through it again. Again, this novel reminded me a lot of Air, and perhaps that’s mostly why I enjoyed it.Īll in all, I don’t much to say about this VN. Just to fulfill a dream or wish that may be childish to others. The way soaring through the sky represents such an irrational achievement, with no real practical reason, appealed to the romantic in me. Ageha’s especially was frustrating as it didn’t really seem to have any purpose or seem to know where it was going, and her not being able to admit her feelings even at the end of the route sapped my care for her. I loved Amane as a character, but her, Ageha, Asa, and Yoru’s routes did nothing for me really. My favorite moment was Aoi riding toward Kotori’s father’s car as they drive away from Kazegaura as Precious Wing starts playing. It had that sort of magic in it that Key’s work usually have. It felt the most like a Key route, with the immense hit of drama toward the end, whereas the other routes just sort of fizzled out and didn’t really feel emotional or impactful to me. My favorite route was definitely Kotori’s. The translation was spotty, but not unreadable. The art alone will have this VN stick with me for a long time. This is perhaps the most beautiful VN I’ve ever encountered, with clean sprites and so many pictures of the sky that just appealed to me as a lover of Air. My favorite part about IMHHW are the visuals. I read the Android version, so no adult content. You can edit each of them as an entire project.Ĭamtasia Studio comes with a built-in audio editor. One for your talking head and one is the actual content. Another cool thing when using this is that Camtasia can split the recorded file into two separate tracks. Use the picture-in-picture mode to create a video showing your instructions on screen. When you’re doing a tutorial or game session, and you want the audience to see your expressions, CS can help with that. Make necessary preparations like ratio adjustments or screen lock before you record. It helps you set up your screen before starting. One of the most useful features Camtasia has is the mini toolbar that pops out in record mode. You can capture your whole screen or just a part of it. This is useful for business and personal projects. Recording your screen is the main purpose of CS, so it’s super easy to do. That puts a limit on your creativity as you’d have to find ways to not make your videos look like a default. You can only customise certain effects up to some degree. One thing is that they’re all fundamental. The effects work well, and their implementations are also smooth. Make them dance or splash into a title with the behavior tool. You can also customise the texts in your clip. These involve a lot of colours and shadowing that give your content a custom atmosphere. If you want extra enhancement for your video, there are some visual effects you can play with. It has all the popular transitions, including the blur and pixelate. With this tool, you can decide how each of your scenes comes into view. There are also many transitional effects to choose from. Each effect comes with customisable layouts like colors and density. Add clarifying texts or subtitles to your video with the annotations tool. Make your clips spin or fade into view with the opacity and tilt animations. The ones it does have are still good and will fulfil most of your small projects’ needs. Since Camtasia caters to new and intermediate users, you won’t find a large selection of special effects. Videos exported from the free trial version will contain the Camtasia Studio watermark. This gives you a chance to fully test the software and see if it’s right for you. During this trial, you’re able to access all the same features as you would in the full version. Is Camtasia Studio free?Ĭamtasia Studio is not a free program, but it does have a free trial. You will want to learn all the technical terms first. One slight setback to learning by yourself is that the buttons don’t have clear instructions on them. So, if you’re not keen on watching tutorials, it wouldn’t take long to figure everything out. Other programs, such as OBS Studio or Filmora Video Editor, can do the same thing, but not as easily as CS. It’s an inherent mechanic that lets you combine multiple clips into one video. So, you can try all the game-changing features such as the overlapping media. The good thing about Camtasia is that the free version contains every function of the original one. Keep in mind that if you’re using the free trial, there will be a watermark on your content until you upgrade. Use CS for anything from YouTube videos and tutorials to gaming sessions. Creative projects made simpleĬamtasia records your entire screen, so the range of content you can create is extensive. There’s a voice-over function that lets you narrate your process. You can also enhance your videos with special effects or annotations with the easy to use tools. Use this app to record activities on your screen for demonstration or promotional purposes. In addition, the application can also apply LUTs in order to make color correction adjustments. MindNode is the right tool to get your ideas out of your head the way you want to. Use the mind map to visually rearrange nodes and add new thoughts. Create an outline for an organized, hierarchical view, and observe how it grows as a mind map. Whether as words, images, links, tasks, or notes, capture your thoughts in any form. It helps you capture your thoughts and create a clear picture of your idea.įeatured as Apple’s “App of the Day” & “Editors’ Choice” MindNode is the most delightful brainstorming app for Mac and iOS. If you’re looking to up your brainstorming game, you can find MindNode 2.0 on the Mac App Store.Every great idea starts with a single thought. Maps can be re-published at the same URL as they’re updated. The MindNode update also boasts improvements in smart layout, theme customization, and visual refinements.Īlso new to the Mac version, the MyMindNode web service allows you to publish your maps on the web and link or embed them in a blog or web page. Being able to access Mindjet’s proprietary format in my tools of choice is important to my sanity. I switched away from MindManager a while ago, but used it for years, accumulating a significant pile of brainstorms in mmap format. MindJet MindManager users will be happy to hear that MindNode can now import your existing maps. You can also add labels to connections to help make things more scannable. The “Stickers” feature lets you choose from a custom set of tinted icons to set ideas apart. MindNode had also been missing the ability to add icons and markers to nodes, but not anymore. ( iThoughtsX has Marked integration, as well.) Click File -> Advanced -> Open in Marked and a full preview of the Markdown export, including notes, will update every time the mind map saves. That leads me to mention my favorite new feature: the ability to preview the rendered Markdown from a mind map while I work using Marked 2 (my own Markdown preview and writing tool). Being able to include notes in the Markdown export means that I can even begin developing paragraphs right in the mind map. The outline view in MindNode (new to the Mac version) means I can see a linear view of my content as I work in the less restrictive format of a mind map. When I’m writing, mind maps are the first tool I employ to brainstorm, develop, and begin structuring a piece. Notes can be included in the various export formats (PDF, Freemind, OPML, Image, Markdown, or text). MindNode 2.0 does a nice job of indicating which nodes have notes with an unobtrusive icon while concealing the extra cruft. I like to keep my topic titles as short as possible, and being able to expand on an idea or add extended thoughts via attached notes is vital. The new features include notes, something I’d always felt was an oversight in MindNode. All this while maintaining the attributes that set it apart from the beginning: simplicity and elegance. The new version includes a variety of features that expand MindNode’s usefulness beyond simple mind mapping to make it a powerful tool for collaboration, polishing ideas, and writing (among the many things mind maps are great for). MindNode 2.0 for Mac is an entirely new app, with an introductory price of $19.99 US ($29.99 after the intro sale). Mindnode has been a favorite at MacStories for a while, and I’m happy to see a brand new version for Mac available today. |
